MOLD REMOVAL PROCESS - CONTAINMENT
One of the most important phases in mold remediation is containment. A containment is simply isolating a work space with plastic sheathing to ensure that contaminants or potential contaminants will not escape. The materials we usually use are 10' x 100' clear plastic visqueen, duct tape, and staples. We sometimes create containment systems in which individual rooms or larger areas of a structure are separated.
MOLD REMOVAL USING DRY ICE BLASTING
Dry Ice Blasting is a very effective way to remediate mold. In a recent project, mold and fungal growth was discovered on the concrete walls of a commercial structure during a major remodel. NorthBay Environmental, Inc. was retained to remediate the mold. One of the challenges was that a comprehensive construction schedule was already in place for this 4-story building. The property owner wanted us to remediate the mold without disrupting the construction schedule.
BALCONY BBQ TURNS INTO APARTMENT COMPLEX FIRE
Although barbeques usually inspire happy images of outdoors gatherings and great food, using a gas BBQ on a deck can be extremely dangerous if the area is
not adequately ventilated. In this case, fumes from a gasoline can ignited the balcony and exterior of the building, and spread into the second story unit before the fire department arrived. Luckily, the sixteen unit structure was quickly evacuated and nobody was hurt. As often occurs, the fire damage was surprisingly minimal compared to the smoke and water damage.
